Drying Cannabis Buds Properly freshly harvested is essential to obtain a product with unaltered properties and excellent taste. Managing the marijuana drying process well means carving out a little bit of time every day to take care of them: improvising or acting negligently will easily result in damage, because the buds could fall prey to mold and spoil. If you are a beginner you may have some doubts about which is the best drying procedure, but fear not! We will explain it to you, in three simple steps.
Organize your drying space better
Factors you will need to take into account when organizing the drying room They are time, space, humidity, temperature and ventilation.
If you have a lot of plants, you may be tempted to pile them up in a small space and dry them all at once. This is a mistake, because they need space and air to dry properly. When plants are piled up in small spaces, humidity rises exponentially and the risk of losing your harvest becomes real. So make sure you have a fairly large and airy room.
You should have the opportunity to check the humidity. In fact, as we have said, if this value is high the risk of mold is just around the corner; if the humidity is too low, on the contrary, drying will be too rapid. For the first three days the humidity should remain around 70% and go down to the 60% approximately in the following days.
The room where you will dry your marijuana should be dark (the sun ruins the tops) and without sudden changes in temperature: the ideal temperature is between 20 and 24 degrees. If there is not enough air in the room (which should have constant exchange) it may be useful to install a ventilation system or a fan.
Knowing the drying times
In general, to dry cannabis you need from 7 to 15 days. Generally speaking, we can say that larger and more compact buds need more time than small ones. But how can you be sure that the process is complete? Simple: you can try to break a twig of your marijuana. If it breaks cleanly, without bending, it means that the plant has lost much of its moisture and is ready to be cured.
Curing Cannabis
In an article from some time ago we talked extensively about the Cannabis curing. This process will allow you to have a better product in terms of taste and also effects. After drying, put the marijuana buds in glass jars similar to jam jars. Do not fill them too much: about ¾. Place the closed jars in a dark and dry place and check them at least once a day.
What does it mean? check the tanning? It involves opening the jar and looking, even with the help of your hands, for any traces of mold. If a bud is moldy, it is necessary to remove it from the jar. The air that will enter through the opening at the time of inspection will help reduce the risk of mold. The tanning must last about two weeks to ensure the best quality grass.
